Rated RED. This board is to be replaced by APAM before the works proceed at this pole; the new LED works are to be installed in the replacement board. Field condition records significant structural / enclosure damage and corrosion to fixings and bars.

Replacement required before the works. This board is built on an obsolete Terasaki Safe-T chassis, and the circuit protection it accepts (Safe-T SRCB2030 MCB/RCD and TH-5-SE control CBs) can no longer be purchased. The board therefore cannot be re-protected or maintained for the works, and a chassis and protection-only refurbishment is not possible. This board is to be replaced by APAM to facilitate the electrical installation, before the lighting works proceed at this pole. This is flagged notwithstanding that this report does not otherwise carry remediation recommendations, given the criticality of the airfield lighting supplied.

4. Condition assessment

Scored per the Condition Scoring & Rating Model (six standards-referenced dimensions, 0–4 on the P-scale). Rating is gated — a single safety/structural P2 breach sets RED regardless of the averaged Index.

DimensionScoreGradeObservation
Electrical safety & compliance3Major / safety (P2)Direct-contact / earthing / labelling integrity
Structural & enclosure integrity3Major / safety (P2)Enclosure & chassis mechanical integrity
Corrosion & protective coating3Major / safety (P2)Corrosion of fixings, bars and coatings; general fouling
Ingress protection0None observedNone observed
Access & working space0None observedNone observed
Thermal / fire & component0None observedNone observed
Rationale. The gated rating is RED, driven by structural / enclosure damage, an electrical-safety non-compliance and corrosion to fixings and bars (Condition Index 48.8/100). RED reflects a gate breach — a safety/structural P2 or an AS/NZS 3000 Cl 2.10 clearance non-compliance — that cannot be averaged away.

5. Defects

Field-observed defect(s) for this board, itemised into discrete findings — each with its own priority and category.

RefCategoryDefectPri
D-01 Structural Safe-T chassis — structural chassis integrity concern P2
D-02 Housekeeping Internal dust / dirt accumulation P4
D-03 Corrosion Minor pitting to enclosure / structure P3
D-04 Electrical Obsolete circuit protection: Terasaki Safe-T MCB/RCD (SRCB2030) and control CBs (TH-5-SE) are no longer manufactured or available. The chassis is obsolete and its circuit protection can no longer be purchased, so the board cannot be re-protected or maintained for the new works. Full board replacement by APAM is required to facilitate the electrical installation and must be completed before the works proceed at this pole. P2

6. Suitability for the LED works

Suitability for LED worksREPLACE BOARD FIRST

The new LED floodlight load and driver footprint are materially smaller than the legacy HID gear removed, and the existing 3-phase supply, 25 mm² feed and cabinet isolation are adequate for the new works. This conclusion is universal across the fleet and is independent of condition. It does not apply to this board in its present form: the existing board is to be replaced by APAM before the works proceed at this pole, and the new works are to be installed in the replacement board.
